Laura Ellis was born in Minnesota in 1956. She later lived in New England before settling in New Mexico in 1990, each summer returning to an island in Maine. Her undergraduate studies included a year in London studying ceramics and art history. She went on to receive a graduate degree and for many years provided healthcare as a nurse practitioner. Life's unfolding led Laura to discontinue clinical practice in 1998 and return to her love of making art. Her work is held in private collections across the United States and abroad.
